10 New Buses for Darwin
Territory Transit has delivered on its commitment to renew its Darwin bus fleet, following the delivery of 10 new buses.
The state of the art new buses will provide Territory Transit’s customers in Darwin with access to a fleet of modern low floor accessible vehicles. Low floor buses make it easier for all customers to board and alight vehicles, particularly those with mobility problems or parents with young children.
The wider Darwin community will also benefit from the introduction of the new vehicles, with the buses delivering improved fuel efficiency and operating to the latest vehicle emission standards.
Following the introduction of the new buses into service in December, Territory Transit has reduced the average age of its fleet from 11.2 years to 5.8 years, making it one of the youngest urban bus fleets in the country.
Territory Transit operates urban bus services under a long-term contract to the Northern Territory Government. Territory Transit commenced operations in October 2014 and currently operates approximately 40% of Darwin’s metropolitan bus network.
