Transit Systems named as one of Westpac's Businesses of Tomorrow
Businesses of Tomorrow is a program designed by Westpac to reward and recognise the top 200 national businesses with the drive to shape Australia’s future and Transit Systems has proudly made the 2018 list.
With an expert judging panel from Deloitte and Westpac, companies must demonstrate a clear purpose and vision, as well as deeply understand the customer’s needs and have the capability to meet tomorrow’s challenges.
Transit Systems CEO Clint Feuerherdt said Transit Systems’ success stems from the vision to enhance the lives of customers, and make great cities work, every day.
“People's expectations and needs are changing and information is becoming more important as people demand faster response times and more convenience.
“Transit Systems is responding to this shift by bringing new ideas to the delivery of public transport. We want to challenge the traditional ways of delivering timetabled services on fixed routes.
In 2017, Transit Systems acquired Boston tech company BRIDJ, an on demand public transport platform.
In the coming years, Transit Systems plans on integrating BRIDJ into all of its metropolitan bus networks - moving towards complementing timetabled and fixed route services with on demand services.
“Drawing on our mass transit experience in London and Singapore, we have a vision for the cities of Australia as having mass transit links complemented by on demand 'feeder services', providing a responsive and frequent public transport network at a lower cost per passenger.
“This is going to take cars off of our roads, increase the productivity of our cities, create an improved outcome for our environment and offer more choice and relevant services to our customers,” he said.
Feuerherdt said the business objectives for the next five years focus on innovation, growth and staff wellness.
“In the first three years of operating in Western Sydney, we increased customer satisfaction by 12% - up from 80% to 92%.
“With the use of innovative technology to reinvigorate the public transport scene, we are intent on delivering better services to customers.
“We’re also seeing stronger engagement with our employees, who thrive on being part of the future, as we work together to deliver the most convenient, reliable and safe public transport solutions of tomorrow,” he said.
