Transit Systems unveils ‘Pride Bus’
Australia’s largest multi-modal transport operator, Transit Systems, is saying Yes to Pride, no to Prejudice, on Sydney WorldPride 2023, with the unveiling of rainbow-inspired ‘Pride Bus.’
The Pride Bus will go into service from 17th February, operating from Leichhardt Depot and travelling through Sydney’s Inner West, as well as on routes 389 and 440 which both operate down Oxford Street.
Showcasing the branding of Sydney World Pride Event, ‘Let’s Get Proud!,’ the eye-catching bus will also travel past key event locations such as Victoria Park, to be a travelling billboard for Sydney WorldPride 2023.
According to Transit Systems Chief Executive Officer Michael McGee, the Pride Bus has also been decorated inside by Transit Systems staff in support of Transit Systems’ LGBTQIA+ colleagues and community.
“The world-first event with Sydney Mardi Gras and Sydney WorldPride joining forces will be so significant for the Sydney LGBTQIA+ community, which extends to the passengers we service and our own employees. We just had to be part of it in creating the Pride Bus – a first for us, with the invaluable support from the organisers of WorldPride 23.
“The entire team at Transit Systems is looking forward to playing a part in the Pride festivities. The atmosphere in Sydney during this time is always electric! And we hope our customers jump on our ‘Pride Bus’ and ride with pride.” Mr McGee said.
Geremy Roberts, a bus driver with Transit Systems for five years, led the bus decorating project and initiated discussions for the bus wrap.
“It was such a great day spending time with my colleagues decorating the Pride Bus. Seeing the Transit Systems Pride Bus come to life to promote the Sydney World Pride message means a lot and makes me feel supported.
“The Pride Bus really captures the positive environment we all feel as a team at Transit Systems, with all the colour and community connection on display.” Geremy adds.
Sydney WorldPride 2023 will officially kick off from 18th February to 5th March 2023.
