Torrens Transit Charity Auction Raises Thousands for South Australian Causes

The Torrens Transit team has proudly filled the donation cup at their annual charity auction, and with a matching contribution from parent company, Kelsian Group, they have together raised over $36,000.

Torrens Transit Managing Director Andrew Jenkinson said the funds have been donated in support of two local South Australian charities: Community Help and Togetherness (CHATS) and SA Brothers.

“In addition to the successful silent auctions, the Torrens Transit team contributed a gold coin and nominated their preferred charities. The leadership team then selected two recipients from the list of submissions.

“Our team proudly raised an impressive $18,000 at our annual charity auction, and we’re thrilled that Kelsian matched the donations.

“The contributions reflect our ongoing commitment to support local initiatives and make a real difference to the communities we serve.

“Both organisations are very worthy recipients who do so much good in our community,” he said.

CHATS, a 100% volunteer-run organisation, offers free breakfasts once a month on a Friday morning to the homeless and socially isolated, providing not just meals but also a sense of belonging and care.

Beyond their weekly breakfasts, CHATS goes the extra mile by distributing food hampers, clothing, bedding, and toiletries to those in need.

Julie Allerton, Treasurer of CHATS said the funds raised by Torrens Transit and its employees will enable CHATS to continue offering essential services for the next 12 months.

“We are so grateful for the support from the Torrens Transit team, and incredibly impressed just how much money was raised on the one night. These funds are vital in enabling us to continue servicing the community and we thank each and every person who contributed,” she said.

Mr Jenkinson personally handed over the cheque to CHATS, while expressing deep gratitude to all employees who contributed to this fantastic effort.

SA Brothers is a Not-for-Profit Association dedicated to reducing the stigma surrounding men's mental health. With an open, non-judgmental platform for men to seek support, SA Brothers promotes positive outlooks and behaviours, and fosters bonds between mates.

John Denholme Founder SA Brothers said they leverage social media to offer a safe space for men from all walks of life to discuss their challenges, seek advice, and support one another.

“We focus on mateship, life experience, and understanding, which has been pivotal in changing future outlooks and helping many members regain hope and direction.

“We are so grateful for the donation and congratulate Torrens Transit and Kelsian Group in their efforts of raising vital funds that support the local community. The dollars will go a long way in helping us achieve our vision,” he said.
