Curtin University Renews Free Shuttle Bus Service with Horizons West

Students, staff and the public will continue to enjoy free local transport to and from Curtin University, thanks to Curtin Access Bus Service (CABS).

The free CABS initiative, powered by Perth's leading bus and charter company, Horizons West, provides a safe, affordable and convenient way for the community to travel between Curtin University's Bentley Campus, Technology Park and surrounding suburbs including Waterford, Bentley, Victoria Park and South Perth. The complimentary buses operate Monday through Friday during normal semester weeks and can be hailed at any point along their designated routes.

Key features of CABS:

  • Free to use: CABS is a free service for students, staff and the public.

  • Wheelchair-accessible: The service includes wheelchair-accessible buses, handrails and grab-rails.

  • Multiple routes: There are five convenient bus routes servicing the University and surrounding areas.

  • Operating hours: The service operates from 7:00 AM to 8:30 PM on weekdays during each semester.

  • Live bus tracking: Passengers can track CABS buses in real-time using the Curtin CABS app, available on Google Play and Apple’s App Store

The Curtin CABS app offers live GPS bus tracking, route mapping, and access to timetables, enhancing the passenger experience through user-friendly and reliable service information.

Almost one million customer journeys will be completed each year with CABS five dedicated buses. The free buses also service Curtin’s multi award-winning Exchange precinct, a state-of-the-art facility that combines hospitality, shopping, learning, and teaching facilities, vibrant retail spaces, accommodation options and recreational areas.

“We are committed to providing services that better connect communities, combining our world-class experience, innovation, network planning and customer service to deliver local transport services people want to use.

“We're thrilled to continue our successful partnership with Curtin University for the ninth year running and to continue making a positive impact in the community with accessible transport solutions.

“We know public transport is the most sustainable transport solution, so we look forward to welcoming more passengers onboard,” said James Turner, General Manager of Horizons West.

Tamara Mahes, Curtin University’s Operations & Maintenance Director, echoed this sentiment. “Curtin University is committed to providing a sustainable, safe and accessible campus environment for students and staff; the CABS service is a great example of this commitment in action. We're delighted to extend our partnership with Horizons West to offer a free and convenient way for the Curtin community to travel.”

The renewal of this service underscores Curtin University and Horizons West's shared vision of offering a world-class campus experience through safe, sustainable, accessible and reliable transportation solutions.
