Transit Systems rolls out clean and tidy buses in Sydney’s South West

Transit Systems has been busy since transitioning Region 2 of the Greater Sydney Bus Contract, starting with the provisions to put cleaner, tidier buses on the roads.

Transit Systems NSW Managing Director Daniela Fontana said since they took over operations in October 2023, servicing routes from Sydney’s Inner West to Camden, with major centres including the CBD, the 230 buses in the South West fleet had all received a freshen up.

“From air conditioning, to external paintwork, we have deployed a systematic approach to enhance the bus fleet in the South West.

“We now have an extensive repair workshop to facilitate an efficient and comprehensive range of mechanical and body repair services,” she said.

Alongside the investment into the latest equipment and technology, Fontana said they had also bolstered the team to meet the heavy vehicle industry safety and quality standards.

“We now have an experienced team of qualified repair professionals to ensure our on-road fleet is setting a standard for comfort, cleanliness and reliability.

“It means customers can enjoy a more comfortable ride, but also by investing and improving the bus quality, we’re enhancing the community appeal,” she said.

Transit Systems has also installed a new bus wash, located at Smeaton Grange, and it can wash a bus every 5 minutes with the latest water saving technology.

“We take great pride in the fleets we operate, ensuring we are accountable on our maintenance and repair schedule commitments.

“For the nearly 400 employees who joined our team at the Smeaton Grange depot, we have also refurbished the facility, and replaced furniture to bring the depot up to our operational standards and ensure the comfort of our team,” she said.

Transit Systems now employees over 2,400 in Sydney, with over 1,200 buses in operation in the state.

“We deliver more than 50,000,000 customer journeys each year, and now there are cleaner, tidier buses on the road for the community,” she said.
