Swan Transit brings the fun and the funds to Radio Lollipop’s annual fundraiser

Bus drivers from Perth’s Swan Transit swapped their daily uniform for a more vibrant wardrobe on Wednesday 19 March 2025, for the annual Radio Lollipop fundraising event. Collectively, Swan Transit raised an impressive $11,459.45 to support children in hospital with care, comfort, entertainment and play.

Dozens of team members ditched the high-vis for superhero capes, glittering tutus, clown costumes and fairy wings, drawing smiles from passengers and raising much-needed funds for Radio Lollipop, a volunteer-run charity that delivers joy, creativity and connection to children in hospital through music, games and play.

Swan Transit Managing Director Brian Thompson said the event continues to bring out the best in the team.

“Radio Lollipop’s mission is one we all feel strongly about and that is helping kids feel heard, valued and happy during what is often a scary and challenging time,” Brian said.

“Our people showed up with incredible enthusiasm, creativity and heart. Whether they were barbequing sausages at the depot, hosting morning teas, donning outrageous costumes and accepting passenger contributions, it all helped lift spirits and raise money for such a meaningful cause.”

Radio Lollipop’s research shows that one in every four children will be admitted to hospital before the age of 14. Their programs give children a voice and a choice during their stay, allowing them to request their favourite songs, join in on competitions, or simply connect with a friendly volunteer.

“Sometimes it’s the smallest gestures such as a colourful costume, a song request or a cupcake at morning tea, that make the biggest impact,” Brian said.

“That is why we are proud to being involved in this event every year. It’s fun, it’s heartfelt and it matters.”
